Mrs. Assad Duped Me
This is one of the best pieces I have written about the truth of what is going on in Syria. Joan Juliet Buck is fearless in her report about her real experience with the Assad family. She originally wrote an article for Vogue that she described as essentially “anointing” Asma al-Assad, wife of Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad. Her first article about her time in Syria with the Assads can be read here. Vogue titled it A Rose in the Desert and it’s worth mentioning that it has been taken off of the magazine’s website.
Please read the article for some knowledge on how this family really acts. Buck is wonderful for having the courage to write such a piece. It is not easy to write about powerful people who do bad things.
